How to Gain 5 Lbs in a Just a Few Days

Pants can unbutton themselves with only the force of your stomach.

When that happens, it’s truly magic.

As there are so many articles about how to lose weight, I thought I’d add to the too-slim canon of how to gain weight. Because who doesn’t want a strong and determined tummy that can help you undress yourself?

Below are a few ideas in case you also want to put on weight quickly.

  • Drink Bloody Marys, preferably before noon ! I recommend the Bloody at Mo’s on Cannon Beach because it’s got a heavily salted rim (water weight counts!) and lovely speared beans and olives to munch on as you await your nourishing meal of fried fish & French fries.
The Bloody Mary Mo's is magical!
  • End your evenings with a high sugar and ABV beer and then go immediately to sleep. I recommend Three Creeks Brewing ’s Five Pines Chocolate Porter. A full pound of dark chocolate goes into each barrel of beer!

  • Bread, lots of bread! You’ll need it to spread artichoke and cheese dip on, or butter, or in crouton form for cheese fondue….do all three over a few days and you’ll practically get to your goal without any of these other tips. If you get tired of bread, miniature potatoes will work to scoop up cheese as well. See photo. Janie and her cousins thought these were mushrooms and admittedly that would have been a healthier option…the potatoes were much firmer than mushrooms for scooping up cheese though.

  • Enjoy plenty of cream and sugar in your coffee, and go with a breakfast meal as you sit and drive for few hours to the coast. There is much better coffee in PNW than Starbucks, such as Silver Falls which is sold at Chuck’s in Vancouver, Stumptown, and Monk, to name a few, however convenience sometimes rules so here I am holding a sausage egg and bacon wrap from Starbucks.

  • Cheez-Its and snacks consumed with friends are more fun than eating alone, so try sitting for long periods in your car with a handful of nourishing crackers in one hand as you drive.
  • Rest up. Don’t walk to much. Hopefully you have a dog in your life who prefers a life of leisure versus activity like mine.
Blu loves chilling out.
  • See how Blu “boxes” me in as I work? You can’t quite tell from the 📸 but he’s fast asleep and snoring as I type this…why should I do something crazy like disturb his sleep just to get to the gym?!

That’s about all I have for now and I hope these tips were helpful. Janie visited TWO months ago and I am finally making this draft “public” to the four people who might see it.
